Ruby needs a job, and she needs one fast. After a family scandal upends her opulent lifestyle she's faced with a huge financial downturn and finds herself tossed out into the world and on her own. The only place she can think of to go where she can make the kind of money she needs for her law school tuition, is a beach bar named, "The Hut". In the small town of Bluff's Cove in sleepy Cape Cod, Ruby is the ultimate fish out of water. Her Manhattan sensibility and street smarts can't help her navigate the insular world of this resort town, a place where she'd always been a guest. No one would ever mistake for one of the locals, but she needs to fit in. Sheer determination lands her a job and a place to stay, however, each day is a challenge for Ruby. She's never had to earn her keep before, and she can't risk losing her new found source of income for anything. But then she meets Cooper. From their very first random meeting in the bar's parking lot, sparks fly between them. For as much as she tries to convince herself that she has no time for a summer fling, Ruby's body sends her an entirely different message. He's irresistible, plain and simple. She's like a moth, drawn to a flame. Will Ruby stay strong enough to hold on to her heart? Or will she give in to Cooper's charms and lose everything she'd always wanted?
